Nature's Passages, my exhibition of paintings focusing on the forests and rivers of Arizona, Colorado, and Washington is now up at Carillon Point in Kirkland, WA.
All paintings in the current exhibition are about passages. Each painting depicts how the light passes across the landscape, creating a unique combination of lit and shadowed areas. Each tree, branch, or rock is like a sundial, which helps you to feel how the passage of light is coupled with the passage of time. You can read the time of day from shadow patterns. The passage of time also creates marks and changes to the landscape – a patch of grass blanched by the sun, aspen trees covered with gold by fall’s magic... There are also passages of physical materials, objects, and creatures through the landscape – the river running on our tree farm, a trail left by deer in the brush, a kaleidoscope of fallen leaves carried through the forest by a gust of wind ... I use trails, rivers, valleys, and light patterns that exist in nature, as well as my painting techniques and added effects, to direct your eye. I try to encourage you to make your own, personal passage through the landscape, which I once encountered and now present to you in this show.
The exhibition is installed throughout Carillon Point in the following locations:
• In the elevator lobbies of buildings 2000, 3000, 4000, and 5000
• The Carillon Post Office

This past Sunday, January 29, I held an opening reception for my solo show at Church of the Beatitudes in Phoenix, AZ. The church has a very active arts council and they approached me last summer to hold a show in their narthex gallery space. Thirty percent of the sales will go to arts programs at the church.
I have 29 oil paintings on display until March 22nd. The show will be open on Sundays from 8:30 am to 11 am, and by special arrangement. To make arrangements to see the show or purchase a painting, please contact Beatitudes Arts Council member Marcia Nix at 602-274-8992.

On Friday, April 1, I had the opening to my solo exhibition at the Olney Gallery at Trinity Cathedral. What a beautiful gallery space! The opening was a great success, lots of friends, collectors, and visitors came by to view my work. The event was during Phoenix's First Friday artwalk and also coincided with an open rehearsal of the Phoenix Chorale, a special treat to hear. I had four sales during the opening, an even more special treat!
The show runs until April 28 and the gallery is open Tuesday-Friday, 9AM - 4 PM.

Very pleased to learn that my painting Jewel of the Creek received an Honorable Mention by renowned artist and this year's juror Charles H. Pabst for the It's Art for Land's Sake exhibition benefiting the Desert Foothills Land Trust. I will have two other paintings in this exhibit as well.
Exhibit is at Desert Foothills Library from March 7 through March 12. Public sale held on Saturday, March 12 from 10 am to 4 pm.
It's Art for Land's Sake is a juried exhibit and sale intended to increase awareness of the Land Trust’s work, to inspire land and wildlife conservation through traditional and representational art, and to promote our incredible artists and the artwork inspired by local conserved lands!
The 2016 show juror is renowned artist Charles H. Pabst, who has selected the pieces to be included in the exhibit and sale. Exhibited pieces depict Desert Foothills Land Trust conservation properties, and reflect the Land Trust’s conservation mission.
50 selected pieces will be exhibited at Desert Foothills Library beginning on March 7, 2016. The sale will open with an exclusive reception for artists and Land Trust patrons on March 11, and the sale will be open to the public on March 12. The exhibition and sale will conclude on March 12.

I'm in the final preparations stage for the Cattlemen's Western Art Show and Sale coming up this weekend in Paso Robles, CA, March 27-29. Hope you can join me and come see this work in person and many others at my booth. I will be in attendance all weekend!

Yesterday my husband and I spent the day hanging my show out at Boyce Thompson Arboretum - a lovely state park near the historic mining town of Superior, Arizona. All 38 pieces are on exhibit, Arizona's Landscapes - North to South, through February 26. I will have a meet-the-artist event on Saturday, February 7 from 10 am to 12 pm noon. During that time I will be talking about my art as well as painting a demonstration piece. Free admission to the park on that day if you print and bring my invitation!

Thirty paintings in 30 days - Day 8. A sahuaro cactus tucked in desert foliage with Picketpost Mountain in the background. A scene from a recent visit to Boyce Thompson Arboretum near copper-mining town Superior, Arizona. I will be having a month long exhibit at the Visitor Center Gallery there, February 1-28, 2015. An artist meet and greet is February 7 from 10 am-12 pm (noon). Also artists can come paint with me during a free paint out I am hosting at the park February 15.

I am pleased to announce I received third place in the oils category for "Among the Aspens" at the Arizona Art Alliance Give the Gift of Art Exhibition and Sale! My husband and I attended the artist reception on Saturday, December 1, 2012 when I discovered the ribbon, which of course is always exciting. The exhibit and sale is through December 23, 2012. Original art is the gift that keeps on giving! The gallery is open Wed.-Sun. from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located at the Scottsdale Pavilions at Talking Stick, 9011 E. Indian Bend Road, Scottsdale, Arizona.

Reminder for those local - I will have a booth at the Holiday House Peoria this Friday and Saturday (November 16 & 17), from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
